Today’s brewery destination was Port City Brewing Co., in Alexandria, VA. But they’re not a pub, so first we got some lunch at Rock It, in Old Town. With Starr City Northern Lights IPA on tap, we snagged a potation. It was a tasty brew, leaning toward the positive side of average.
Port City was hoppin’; they did a cycling event in the morning, and had quite the crowd by afternoon. Between us, we tried all twelve of their beers. Their malt profile works quite well for the Belgian styles….more in-depth tasting notes to follow.
Port City is quite a bit smaller (and newer) than Tröegs, but they have a decent distribution area–at least, their beer gets as far away as NY, and they’ve only been around since 2011.
I rather liked their beer festival-type tasting flight system.
